Here we have an exceptional drink. I stopped at Mo:le today and enjoyed one of these ... two of these, but who's counting?
As a pickled garnish lover, this drink satisfies in a major way. There's a bean, asparagus and dill pickle slice all topped with pickled red cabbage.
The drink itself is not too sweet and includes horseradish in their recipe. I ordered mine with gin instead of vodka, which adds to the whole flavour picture. The presence of fresh ground pepper is also noticeable, which adds a little bite. It was also made by a bartender with obvious affection for this cocktail, which often yields a more delicious flavour.
As I sipped away, I contemplated the celery salt on the rim. I prefer a rock salt, or a chili-garlic rock salt on the rim, but I think the classic celery salt serves this otherwise flamboyant version well.
Five out of five gherkins. Or whatever. I haven't decided on a rating system. A+
