I've had a loooong break from the blog and from Caesars in general. I think I've only had two so far in 2016. I'm a little burnt out from the 12 Days of Caesars.
I'm back to review a new one today!
This weekend I stopped by Varsha Indian Kitchen at the corner of Government and Pandora. I hadn't eaten there before but recently I noticed a bunch of social media they were doing to promote their new menu. While perusing said menu, I noticed a fabulous looking Caesar and decided to give it a try.
It's called the Pakora Bacon Caesar. The menu says it has a "Varsha Twist" and also details the impressive garnish. I thought the garnish sounded great and took advantage of their happy hour deal and ordered one.
My first impression of this drink was the smell. As the server put it on my table, the scent of bacon wafted over to me. The garnish was WARM! I don't often encounter warm garnishes, (Sult's pierogi garnish being an exception) and I don't think I've ever had warm bacon in any of the bacon Caesar's I've tried. The pakora was also warm and delicious. I ate the garnish pretty quickly after it slipped into the drink. The Caesar mix added a little flavour.
The drink itself was pretty standard: celery salt rim, lime wedge, spicy bean, classic Caesar mix and vodka. It was only after I checked the menu again that I wondered if the Varsha twist referred to the garnish or some missing seasoning.
This was pretty tasty and satisfying and it was a nice spot to grab a snack on a sunny day. I think they can push their Caesar a little further though. The seasoning options at an Indian restaurant seem too good to pass up.
