I've been trying to get to Bart's for a while to try the legendary seafood Caesar they serve. I went in ready to compare this seafood Caesar to Ferris' offering that I sampled on day 1. The two versions are quite different from each other. As you can see in the photos, the garnish is extreme. There's no messing around here. Two prawns arc over the side of the glass while a single mussel rises from the drink, its shell supporting the generous dollop of horseradish. There is a lot to take in, from the seafood to the two pickled beans to the spear of various pickled treats. More is more, baby. Beyond the tasty and substantial garnish lies the steak salt rim. And below that two shots of vodka and a sea of Clamato. A classic, seasoned cocktail. This was a delicious drink, and I appreciated the enormous garnish. It's hard to compare it with Ferris' because I think they are going for different things. Ferris' seafood Caesar is understated. The oyster really owns the spotlight. In the Bart's Caesar, everyone is working together. |
And by everyone I mean all the seafood and pickled things. I loved it. My friend had a regular Caesar which also had a big garnish, including a cherry tomato, which I thought was a nice touch. I liked that the horseradish from the mussel dripped into my drink. I'll be back for this one for sure.
